The service is environmentally friendly, as Giveacar only use authorised treatment facilities, which recycle 85% of a vehicle in terms of weight, corresponding to DVLA and Environmental Agency guidelines. The government’s website, Direct.gov.uk, has a guide to moving house, aimed at highlighting the Green issues you may wish to consider when choosing a new home.

These include the obvious aspects such as how close it is to your place of work, schools etc, to its energy rating, saving power, green gardening, and recycling your household waste.

The site enables you to earn personal carbon credits (PCCs) for free when you buy stuff through their portal site. For example, a 1Gb memory card costing £16.99 would get you 64 PCCs which is the equivalent carbon used by running a computer for one month.

Free digital magazines from Tesco Greener Living

Tesco Greener Living are offering digital versions of popular magazine to download for free!

The bad news is that the site says that the reader software needs your PC to be at least 2 GHz processor speed, with a minimum 512 MB of RAM and at least 1 GB free hard disk space — so that’s me out then.

UPDATE: There is an option to read the digital magazine in your web browser but you will need Flash installed and it’s still not really a practical option for the RAM (PC memory) challenged like me.
